Breathing Apparatus Incident Response Melbourne · Perth
Utilising Breathing Apparatus During a Response to an Incident
This course develops the skills and knowledge required to safely operate and maintain breathing apparatus and related equipment when working in environments where the air
is not safe to breathe (irrespirable atmospheres). It is based on the requirements outlined in the Australian Standards for the selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment.
The primary focus of this course is the use of breathing apparatus in emergency situations, such as when working in confined spaces, around hazardous gases or vapours, or in
oxygen-deficient atmospheres.
The course is suitable for individuals working alone or as part of a team and includes liaising with other team members and the control room operator, where appropriate.
Structure and Assessment
This course is delivered through classroom presentations, group discussion and practical demonstrations and exercises. Trainees will demonstrate their competence through written and practical assessment.
